Barleycove Beach is a very nice convex shallow break. It works well around high tide if a little slack. Car park and walkway to the beach and no camping in the area. Also on the road from Schull/Goleen is Stoney beach, just before the headland, good break onto shingle.
Barleycove when it gets big is brilliant, nice hollow lefts and rights on a beautiful beach. It has a growing surfing community but has no problem with over crowding.
I've surfed the cove on and off for 7 years it is a great wave but look out for the rip as the tide starts to go out it drowned two people when I was there it's the build up of the river when the tide is in it work like a dam and the camp site is ok.
