A wide sandy beach with cliffs at one end and a small village at the other. The cliffs side gets best waves. The river flows into the middle causing some rip currents. A mediocre wave that can be dangerous to swim.
A wide flat sandy beach. Usually lots of room but few good waves unless strong northerly. Access difficult unless you park at Portbraddan (world's smallest church here!) and swim across. Beware: last time I swam here someone drowned in the rips.
White Park is a pretty good surf spot but the waves always look better from the road and are usually about 2ft smaller than they look. There is a good left AND a right. A very long, hard paddle out as the rips cause a big problem. If you are walking bring booties for the way down. But at the end of the day it’s all worth it because this beach is really good and when it goes off IT GOES OFF. And there is a youth hostel very nearby.
