Rocked up in Tenerife with little information but the local map provided by the Aloha surf shop in Puerto de la Cruz had all the breaks mapped out nicely. Checked out this particular break, El Socorro about 3pm today and found the waves around the 4-6ft mark, quite messy but the wind was north westerly. Loads of locals, I approached a few and they were friendly enough but didn´t understand me! I guess the little info I got was that the tide didn´t matter, more pot luck. Definitely worth a look at, especially when you don´t have to rely on tide - turn up and give it a whirl, I will be tomorrow!
I wouldn't call this break a beginner break? I went there last summer and waves were 3-4 ft and the rips were mental! I spent about four hours in the water and only caught two waves! I was getting dragged about all over the shop. Still, I had a great time and everyone in the water was friendly. Chris, Brighton
