Never have i heard so much negativity and scene-destructive banter than in the 'sport' of surfing. Sometimes we can't choose where we live, so why waste so much energy in slating the scene. Sure, the south coast is not the greatest area for waves but it has better waves than Watford for example. Grow up for gods sake you bunch of fucking children and surf what you can get when you can get it. Quit throwing your toys out the pram! Anagram: Localism = Retarded

The entire south coast has gutless mush, most spots only work a few hours before or after high tide. Is hardcore really going out in shitty onshore slop?

Hotpipes is a cool spot. Friendly locals, chilled vibe and can get the occasional good swell. Check my picture.

I spent many years surfing here with the likes of Haddock, Greg Watts and the infamous "Goon Platoon". If the vibe is the same as it was some 20 years ago then I suggest that all surfers try it out as if I remember correctly the surf didnt need to be great to have a wicked time down there.

Hot pipe is good friendly break and has an excellent vibe, unlike the localized wankers who surf at the marina. OK the wave is nowhere near as good, but at least you don't get hassled! It works best at mid tide, watch for fencing at the end of the pipe. Oh and its toasty warm in the winter. Water temp can reach 30 degrees! Sure it's south coast slop but if that's all you got... Check out sharkbait.co.uk for the forecast.

Jamie from the glorious surfers paradise of Scotland thanks for your shitty review. Glad you don’t write for tourism industry no one would go anywhere. We want positive info to help people, not crap!

My comments were simply the truth. I started surfing there some fifteen years ago so I should know. I made no comment about local surfers ability. People like Jock and Cliff rip.

If the entire south coast is crap you haven't surfed west of I.O.W. Places like Kimmeridge are awesome.

This beach is amazing it is possibly the best in Britain. Croyde is a bag of turd compared to Shoreham. I highly recommend to surf here!!!!

I moved from Brighton as the surf was so bad. I dunno what your problem is Jake, all I said was the truth. Also, surfing is not 'a sport'.

Jamie, call yourself a surfer. Not really got the spirit of the sport quite right have you. It's people like you that kill any vibe whether the waves are good or not. Piss off to South Africa if its so shit here.

Nah, yer right. The south coast has excellent consistent waves with offshore winds and no crowds. Oh no that's Scotland.

There is no real surf anywhere round here, just people kidding themselves with onshore mush. Better off travelling to North Devon/Cornwall.
