Spent 2 weeks here this summer and had a good couple of sessions. The best surfers are there early morning or evening as the holiday makers can not read the signs that tell them we to swim and not to swim. It took out 2 people in the space of 1 hour and the lifegaurds don't care. Nice break with lefts and rights, just got find the bank thats working best. I had one big day, around 6-8ft which held up nicely. Very friendly locals (if you show respect to their break). If the winds strong drive a few miles to La Tranche and check out the pier for a nice point break.
I have surfed this many a time. The surf gets a bit sucky at times on the mid to low and mid to high tides and you really have to be quick on your feet to get the wave cause they get pretty quick and you need to make the section to continue your ride. Either head left or right of the cafe/public crowded part of the beach; you'll find a break anywhere and uncrowded.
