This is a really nice beach break with very friendly locals (providing you show some respect, for the language etc.)
Locals don't really bother going in unless the conditions are perfect, but there are some excellent surfers in St Gilles which is testament to the quality of waves in the area as a whole.
Listen out for rumours of a semi-secret reef break in the area with perfect sucking barrels!
Great, mellow break, ideal for longboarders and beginners. The beach is huge, so there's never a problem with crowds (in summer, just walk south). Watch for the freaky backwash caused by the promenade at high tide!
