The slab picks up most of the swell going (when there is any!). There is nothing better than pulling up on the hill and looking down to see a nice big clean barrel. Fair enough, the barrel only lasts for a few seconds if your lucky, but who's complaing? Its totally o boogers wave, but I'd love to see a standup try it for a laugh. If there's a small clean swell, and the wave isn't working, wait till high tide passes and it should start to throw. When it's shallow, it really sucks dry into rock pools!! Try the left sometime. It's not as good, but it's sometimes an option when you see the right hander closing out. There's an air section there, but its hard to hit.

Black rocks is good but halfway between Portrush and Portstewart there is an even better hollow right hander. Across the road from Juniper hill caravan park is a reef locally known as 'The Slab', it is fast and has a heavy peak and is very shallow. Only for the very experinced, more of a spongers wave.

The wave is a bit mad so you need to be fairly amped to go in. Breaks on most decent swells.
