Only one day of surf here in ten days in the Algarve, messy and strong with swells around 5 feet - as with all beaches during September, wave closes real quick. Watched two dudes on long boards trying to paddle out but they got mashed every time.
I was there on the day of the Photograph of francisco, it was a regional championship, the winer was Ivo Muxaxo. That thay was the best day I've surfed there, large barrels and gret lip, I've seen many 360º aerials at a pro championship, everyone was great there...
Some serious tube action available here. It is busy in the evening and has some seriously big waves, a guy on the cliff keeps a look out on the outside. This wave is steep and fast when it is going off. It was gangbusters for days in October.
The beach has got to have one of the best restaraunts. It overlooks the beach and does the best Peri-Peri chicken. The wave is just balls to the wall down the line speed in one of the nicest bays.
