A very handy beach with easy and free parking. 3km of beach to choose from. When it's big (unusual in summer) the south is cleaner. The south also has a few hundred metres of groyne-free shore. The south isn't so good at high tide. Further north the area is more exposed and usually more messy. Mainly rights, but when the weather is Northerly, a lot of lefts. The groynes are 100 metres apart and can be a nuisance and dangerous to beginners when it's big at high tide. Right now (late Sept) there are great rights at the N end at low to medium tides.
Flat all summer, wakes up in September though and produces consistant waves throughout winter, get a good wetsuit though it gets very cold. The southern end of the beach tends to be smaller and cleaner than the northern end.
