West dale picks up any swell around and can hold huge waves and still be good in onshore waves. It does have a huge dangerous rip and afew people have died here over the years(most of them swimmers). Marloes sands also picks up around the same swell as West dale but not as clean. On the right days this place is lovely with glassy waves on one of the most beutiful beakes around.
A relatively tame beach, but on a good swell expect to see waves up to 4 - 6 ft. I've barrelled out there a couple of times. It is mostly empty so there is plenty of space.
I love this place. It may not be a great surf but grab a tent spend the night on the beach and have some lovely evening sunset surfs. This place is really pretty, I reckon, and the pub in Dale does good grub fairly cheap. Oh keep your eye out for a yacht called 'Dia' from Dale The skipper is a sound bloke.
